CDMS Nepal Stands with Gen-Z: A Call for Justice, Peace, and Inclusive Governance

Appeal The Centre for Disaster Management and Studies (CDMS) extend our deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones during the recent Generation Z-led movement advocating for freedom of speech, good governance, and eradication of corruption. May the departed souls rest in eternal peace, and may their families find the strength to bear this irreparable loss. Our thoughts are with the injured, and we pray for their swift and full recovery.

At this critical moment, CDMS is deeply concerned about the political instability and the tragic loss of 21 young lives, including children, resulting from the violent escalation of the protests. While we recognize the urgency of the issues raised by the Generation Z movement, we appeal to all protesters to exercise restraint and seek peaceful dialogue as a path forward. We also urge the Head of State, in accordance with the authority vested by the 2015 Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, to take decisive action to restore law and order and ensure the safety and dignity of all citizens.

CDMS calls for an inclusive and transparent approach to governance, urging the immediate formation of an interim government that reflects equal representation of women, Dalits, Madhesis, Janajatis, youth, and minority communities, thereby advancing the vision of a truly egalitarian society as envisaged in the Constitution. We demand an independent, credible, and accountable investigation into the atrocities committed during the protests, ensuring justice for victims and appropriate action against perpetrators. We appeal to all peace-loving Nepali citizens to prioritize the well-being of all communities, uphold human rights, and contribute to a society where every voice is respected. CDMS stands ready to support initiatives that promote justice, equality, and lasting peace in Nepal.
